The Sandbox is partnering with Digital Hollywood, a school for human resource development in IT and digital content. To celebrate this new collaboration, we will hold a seminar in Japan on July 9th, 2022! In conjunction, Digital Hollywood Studios will offer new courses throughout Japan to train voxel artists and game makers to prepare them to create content in The Sandbox.

The seminar, titled “The Sandbox’s First Steps in the Creator Economy”, will feature The Sandbox COO Sebastien Borget and other speakers. The creator economy in the title refers to the emerging digital economy that allows creators to earn revenue from their creations in platforms such as The Sandbox.

Digital Hollywood is convinced that The Sandbox’s business model, which allows users to participate in platform development and monetization, will resonate with many current students and graduates, and that the creative skills they have acquired so far will be used to create quality games and assets on the platform. With The Sandbox surpassing three million registered users and with over 300 brands partnering to develop LANDs in the metaverse, the demand for new content is constantly increasing. We both hope that The Sandbox will accelerate the creator economy and that many creators will be able to live their own lives in a metaverse free to create and own a digital identity where they can be appreciated for their skills without being bound by their gender, age, or nationality.

Digital Hollywood will jointly develop a new course to train game makers and voxel artists, the creators of The Sandbox world. The course will be offered at Digital Hollywood STUDIO starting in September 2022. In addition, a competition will be held for the students of this course, and the winners will be eligible to join the Creator’s Fund established by The Sandbox, which will provide funding and various other support for their production activities.

“We are confident that through this collaboration with The Sandbox and the jointly held courses, creators who earn money from digital content while moving back and forth between reality and the metaverse will emerge as an important part of a new digital society,” said Digital Hollywood President Tomoyuki Sugiyama. “At Digital Hollywood STUDIO, we have been teaching the creative skills necessary to live one’s own life, and I am happy to see that many of our graduates are leading lives that are uniquely their own. In the future, we will need more skills to work in the metaverse from anywhere in the world.”

“The Sandbox is a platform expressly designed to unlock the potential of creators, and as such, we strongly welcome our collaboration with Digital Hollywood to help talented Japanese creators get started building content for our open metaverse,” said Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder and COO of The Sandbox. “I look forward to sharing my thoughts on how creativity can lead to a career in the emerging new digital economy during our seminar.”

About The Sandbox Creator Economy Seminar at Digital Hollywood Tokyo Campus

While the concept of metaverse has been talked about a lot, many people still have never experienced it. Sebastien Borget, COO of The Sandbox, and six other creators will speak at the seminar. They will cover the activities of creators who belong to The Sandbox Creator Fund, including compensation, collaborative production, and the prospects for the Japanese community. Demonstrations of 3D character and game creation using development tools will also be given.
