Everything You Need To Know About Alpha Season 4’s NFT Gating
In order to improve your gameplay experience in Alpha Season 4, we’ve introduced many new features, but few are as exciting as NFT gating. NFT gating empowers creators to elevate their experiences by restricting access to certain areas, which can only be unlocked by players holding the required NFT.
In Alpha Season 4, this feature has been updated to not only grant you more EP and speed up your Battle Pass progress but also to unlock exclusive SAND rewards.

Unlock Additional EP
Looking to collect bonus EP by unlocking more quests? Try using Keys!
Throughout your Alpha Season 4 experience, you’ll come across certain games that have a “Premium Area” that is NFT-gated. On average, each Premium Area contains around five quests (two to eight depending on the experience). Quests inside the Premium Areas are considered “Normal” quests (yellow exclamation mark) but they reward more EP than Normal quests that are found outside of Premium Areas (five EP inside, one EP outside).
To access these areas, you will need to hold certain Keys.
Partner Key
Partner Keys unlock access to the Premium Area based on the experiences of the partner with whom they are associated. For example, the “Ubisoft Partner KEY” unlocks access to the Premium Area inside the Captain Lazerhawk experience and the Rabbids experience.

Category Keys
Category Keys unlock content in all the experiences of Alpha Season 4 that belong to the specified category. There are ten categories that content in Alpha Season 4 fall into:
- ART
- CULTURE
- ENTERTAINMENT
- FASHION/LUXURY
- GAMING: ACTION
- GAMING: MANAGEMENT
- GAMING: PARTY GAME
- LIFESTYLE
- MUSIC
- SPORT
Each category covers nine to ten experiences. The Category Keys allow access to the Premium Area in all Category experiences.
For example, the “Music Category KEY” unlocks access to all ten experiences of the “Music” Category, which includes experiences from our music partners (Nuclear Blast, Agoria, Galantis, The Voice & more) and some music-themed experiences created by The Sandbox users.
A Category Key costs 30 SAND.
How do I get these Keys?
You can purchase both types of Keys on The Sandbox Marketplace and they can be used all season long, as new experiences in categories or associated with partners are released.
Keys in Alpha Season 4 can only be purchased once.
Can I resell my keys?
Each key can only be used once by a single user. You can resell your key if you have yet to use, but once you unlock the content, its metadata will change to reflect its new status. The design will switch from “unused” to “used.”
Be careful if you want to purchase one on the secondary market, and make sure you don’t buy a “used” one. If you have any doubt, you can buy directly on The Sandbox Marketplace where only “unused” keys are available.
How can I use my keys?
Once the key is in your wallet, all you have to do is join an experience associated with that key. Let’s say you have the Ubisoft key, you can join the Rabbids: Plunga City experience and find the NFT Gated quests.
If you have the associated Ubisoft Key, you can play the quest. If you don’t, you will be prompted to purchase one.
Use NFTs to Unlock Rewards
Some gated zones give you access to quests that grant instant SAND Rewards! Those zones are located in the Alpha Season 4 Hub. The NFT that unlocks those zones is called a Hub Partner Pass.
How do I get the NFTs to access those gated areas?
These NFTs are granted to people who own an Alpha Pass and are progressing through the Alpha Seaosn 4 Battle Pass by claiming EP.
Partner Pass
Partner Passes are included among the premium rewards in the Battle Pass. To unlock these premium rewards, you must own the Alpha Pass. You can earn your Partner Passes by owning the Alpha Pass and collecting enough EP to reach specific levels.
Without spoiling too much of the content, here are the levels that will reward you a Partner Pass:
Each Pass unlocks 20 SAND when used.
LAND Owner Pass
Hub LAND Owner Passes are awarded to players who own LAND. These passes will give you access to the SAND Chest rewards that are gated within the Alpha Season 4 Hub. LAND owners can track and collect HUB LAND Owner Passes on the LAND Owner Community Goal page.
How can I use my LAND Owner Pass?
Once the pass is in your wallet, all you have to do is head to the Alpha Season 4 Hub and enter the room associated with the key. There are four keys, one for each LAND Owner goal milestone.
Can I resell my Partner and LAND Passes?
Partner Passes can be used only once by a single user. You may only resell your valid pass if it hasn’t been used yet. Similar to Keys, once you unlock the content with the pass, its metadata will change to a new design, indicating that it has been used. While you can still list used passes for sale, they will no longer be usable by another user.
