What’s New in Game Maker 0.10
Achieve More Diverse and Complex Gameplay with a New Set of Behaviors
Game Maker 0.10 empowers you to elevate your Experience with a more nuanced game.
Spawn Point Behavior: Spawn players in different locations, set up teams, and customize equipment and avatar settings for the ultimate gameplay experience!
- Team Broadcast allows you to deliver messages to each team.
- Equipment at Spawn so that your player is ready for whatever comes next.
- Multiple Spawn Points allows for varied spawning and the assignment of teams.
Projectile Behavior: Integrate custom projectile logic with ease with this all-new feature. Set force, trajectory and visibility, gravity, collider size, target, and VFX. Projectiles can be fired and trigger messages upon collision.
This new behavior introduces logic to spawn projectile objects and determine the effects when collisions occur. Combine with asset spawner behavior to spawn projectiles or with a pickable component to move the projectile and aim. With high or low-speed projectiles, the creative possibilities are endless!
Raycast Component: Point, aim, and click! With the Raycast Component, you can fire a message when the ray collides with objects within a certain range. Choose a targeted location or asset on detection and take your precision to the next level. This feature offers a chance to create gameplay and animations based on precise feedback, from visuals to puzzles.
Consumables (Collectable Component): In this enhanced component, consuming an item from inventory sends a message, which can trigger anything you want (buffs/debuffs, explosions, rules for bonus time, XP, cold resistance, poison, etc). Consumables offer players the flexibility to choose when to trigger the effects of collected items, as determined by the builder. Use this feature to create potions and power-ups.
Multi and Void: Multi and Void have been ported over for multiplayer synchronization. Empower players to create and destroy blocks with precise spawning areas!
Design Smarter Logic with New Rules
Tailor the game mechanics to your unique design needs with new rules for more immersive and varied gameplay.
Math Rule: Perform more advanced math operations with time and number variables using one versatile rule. This new rule replaces add/subtract numbers, multiply numbers, and add/subtract time rules. A new float variable type has been added for more precise calculations.
New and Enhanced HUD Rules: To customize the player experience, showcase variables in the HUD as variables in sleek progress bars, percentages, or as values. Complete your design with eye-catching icons for effortless readability.
Also included in this update is an improved HUD Banner and Pop-Up so that you can effortlessly notify players.
Key Input Rule: Set up rules that respond to control inputs like the 0–9 keys and mouse buttons to seamlessly trigger custom game mechanics such as controls and shortcuts for a personalized gaming experience. Initiate a power-up anytime with the press of a button, prompt an NFT sensor, and more!
On Player Join/Exit Trigger Rule: Trigger gameplay mechanics or logic when players enter or leave the Experience.
Send Message Rule: This new rule allows you to send more than one message if needed by adding it to a ruleset.
