Avatar Migration on CATALYST Ecosystem
Following the introduction of CATALYSTs into The Sandbox ecosystem in December, we’re now expanding this integration to include our earliest Official Avatar Collections. This ensures CATALYSTs will be incorporated across all Official Collections.
Addressing Feedback and Changes
After the first migration, which was based on five grades of CATALYSTs, we received valuable feedback from the community about confusion surrounding the system. We’ve listened to your concerns and are updating the integration to return to a familiar four-tier system better aligning with player expectations.
Explore the Upcoming Changes
In the past, older collections were sold in “Tiers”, with each Tier representing a certain percentage of the collection’s rarity (e.g., Tier 1 represented 10% of the collections, while Tier 2 represented 20%). These old collections will now be updated to reflect CATALYST levels, ranging from Uncommon to Legendary. This update is critical to ensure that the avatars’ abilities and other features are kept intact.
Here’s how the old Tiers will map to the new CATALYSTs:
- Old Tier 1 > Legendary CATALYST
- Old Tier 2 > Epic CATALYST
- Old Tier 3 > Rare CATALYST
- Old Tier 4 > Uncommon CATALYST
This ensures that all avatars owners in older collections will receive the best possible CATALYSTs while respecting the original Tier structure.
Background Adjustments
- Most avatars will revert to their original background color, as they were before the first migration.
- For custom backgrounds, they will now follow the new CATALYST-based color scheme.
- Avatars in Tier 4, which originally had gray backgrounds, will now have Uncommon CATALYSTs with green background;
Update Schedule
The update will begin on September 17, 2024. We will roll out these changes gradually, updating one or two collections at a time. We expect this process to take between three to five days, assuming all goes smoothly. You will be able to see the updates as they appear on The Sandbox website.
Once all collections are updated, we will refresh the The Sandbox’s cache to ensure the changes are visible across the platform. However, please note that other websites or dApp, such as OpenSea, may take longer to update their displays, as they rely on their own cache refreshes. Opensea, for instance, relies on the update of a generic cache and a manual refresh of users. This is not in our control.
Please keep in mind that our official collections are dynamic NFTs that can transform over time. As such, The Sandbox website is the only place where you can be sure of their current status and have the best up to date information. Other websites and apps may still showcase outdated cache information if the metadata is not refreshed.
Thank you for being a loyal avatar owner! Your continued support and feedback help us improve The Sandbox, and we’re excited to bring you these updates to enhance your experience!
